Step #1: Define Work from Home Jobs
What is work from home?
Remote work, also called work from home (WFH), work from anywhere, telework, remote job, mobile work, and distance work, is an employment arrangement where employees do not commute to a central place of work.
Many people think it’s an option made possible thanks to the Internet.
Working from home can help introverts make good use of their skills without fearing any pressure or influence from the surrounding work environment.
This is also the job that tends to thrive in the future of this digital age.
The history of working from home
The Industrial Revolution led to the construction of factories, which were centralized workplaces.
In the early 1970s, technology was developed that linked satellite offices to downtown mainframes through dumb terminals using telephone lines as a network bridge.
The terms “telecommuting” and “telework” were coined by Jack Nilles in 1973.
In 1979, five IBM employees were allowed to work from home as an experiment.
By 1983, the experiment was expanded to 2,000 people.
By the early 1980s, branch offices and home workers could connect to organizational mainframes using personal computers and terminal emulators.
In the 1990s and 2000s, remote work became facilitated by technology.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, millions of workers began remote work for the first time, and many students switched to distance education.
This is also when people see the power of working from home because it gives them a more comfortable space and flexibility in timing.
Working from home nowadays
Nowadays, a person can do the work from home in the simplest way.
Working from home begins when you set up a space in your house where you can comfortably do your job.
Each person will have a different office working style.
For corporate employees who have to work from home, their office is sometimes simply an empty space or room.
Sometimes it’s also improvisation. Your desk can be any type of desk. The ergonomic chair is also not ergonomically optimized to help you feel less tired when sitting for a long time.
Either way, extroverts probably won’t like working from home.
But on the other hand, working from home is a haven for introverts.
And from there, presentations, reports, interviews, or customer care calls will be produced in a highly productive and creative way.
Why do you want to work from home?
You cannot deny that working at home has recently become more popular and developed.
That is motivated by technological improvement, electronic tools, and internet speed.
They not only help erase the gap between employers and employees but also increase the trust and trust between the company and the employee.
- Cut the cost
Working from home can help reduce costs and benefit both the company and the employee.
Working remotely has helped employees minimize travel expenses such as gasoline, taxi, or Uber.
In addition, companies can save office rental costs by providing dedicated space for employees to work.
- Provide private space
Some extroverts prefer to work at the company because of the dynamic environment and can work in groups directly.
I agree with that.
On the other hand, working from home will help introverts achieve incredible performance like extroverted people.
It is an undeniable opportunity to help everyone work better without worrying about the surrounding environment.
- Flexible time
Working from home gives you high flexibility in time.
You can exercise to improve your health or relax with friends and family after work, instead of being tired and moving in traffic.
As long as you still complete the job, working at home will give people the customization of their time between work and family.
Is that useful, right?
The future of work from home
Remote work, or working from home, has been around for a long time, and Covid-19 has helped them become popular again in recent years.
And large companies have long been able to provide their employees the opportunity to work remotely.
But smaller businesses have also caught up with this trend. They increasingly allow their employees to work at home.
They are looking for remote employees for marketing, customer care, therapists, virtual assistants, client services professionals, teachers, writers, developers, analysts, sales representatives, nurses, etc…
And you know, the purpose is to minimize costs and increase the opportunity to compete with big companies.
They all show that employees, especially knowledge, they can work effectively in an environment outside the office.
Does it suggest anything?
Yeah, you are right!
There are many opportunities for you, those looking for part-time jobs at home or looking to develop your career path by working from home.
Remote work vs. Work from home
When applying for a job today, you will hear many phrases like “working remotely” and “working from home.”
Those phrases are searched more often and heard more in professional conversations and interviews.
But you will also wonder about them.
You may ask, what the difference between “remote work” and “work from home” is?
Are they different?
I should choose “remote work” or “work from home”?
Well, let Lifeee explain to you.
Remote work means working from anywhere other than the traditional office.
In other words, you can work remotely from anywhere, whether in your home, cafe, or just a coworking space, as long as you have a laptop and a steady internet connection.
Instead of driving to the same physical business or office building, remote workers use digital tools to handle tasks, complete projects, and communicate with their team members.
Employees can be fully remote or partly remote.
Fully remote employees don’t have to come to the office and can work from around the world.
Partly remote employees are required to live close to the office and might be needed to visit the office at least a few times every month.
With these features, remote work is becoming more attractive to job seekers.
It also helps companies hire good employees, retain talented employees, and cut unnecessary costs for infrastructure.
Improve your productivity
Create a healthy lifestyle
Save travel expenses
Minimize carbon emissions
Help you balance your work and life better
Comfortable working space
Communication distance with coworkers
Lack of social interaction in your company
Difficulties in project management
Working motivation decreases over time
Work from home
Working from home often has the context of a temporary arrangement, especially during the 2020 and the Covid-19 pandemic.
In these circumstances, where offices and all other communal spaces are unsafe, working from home is the only option.
Work from home is also one of the benefits offered to office-based workers periodically.
You can work from home full-time or part-time, depending on your job and company policy.
Most of the time, people who work from home are usually called remote workers.
However, working from home isn’t just for fully remote employees.
It can also be for people who might want a few days away from the office to concentrate on a few essential things.
It differs from the standard working method but is also very effective.
For people with any kind of caretaking responsibilities (caring for children, seniors, etc.), the flexibility of being able to work from home allows them to participate in the workforce at all.
Reduce the stress of travel
Flexibility in the work schedule
Have time to take care of the family
Avoid annoying coworkers
Private working space
Lonely when working all-day
Can become overworked
Hard to build trust and develop relationships
Your living space is affected
Step #2: Prepare for Work from Home Jobs
Now you know what working from home is.
You also learn the distinction between remote work and working from home, along with their pros and cons.
This is the time to prepare for what you are about to begin.
In fact, if you prepare well mentally for the job, you will become a professional and highly productive person.
And to help you achieve your career goals, Lifeee will give you what you need to prepare.
Plan for your work from home jobs
Planning is the first step you should consider when you intend to find a suitable job.
The plan will help you to keep track of your goals closely.
It helps you to know where you are, what you are doing, and whether what you are doing is a good match for your talents.
When planning your future jobs, you also need to keep the following in mind.
The types of jobs you love
You first need to determine what kind of job you like.
It could be a job that suits your talents or match what you’re studying.
Maybe it’s a job you’ve had previous work experience in.
As long as the type of work makes you comfortable and enjoy it, you can consider adding it to your options.
Make a list of all the jobs you find.
And we’ll evaluate them later.
The time that jobs require
After you find a job that matches your interests, pay attention to working hours.
Moderate work hours will help you feel comfortable and excited and stick with those jobs in the long run.
If you’re looking for part-time work from home, working time is something that you need to take seriously.
You don’t want the work hours to be too extreme, like working late into the night or the job having too long working hours.
Balancing work time with rest and relaxation will help you maintain the energy to work more persistently.
In addition, they also help you to take care of your life and avoid stress at work.
There are very demanding jobs. Some jobs do not require too much from you.
You know, demanding jobs often come with high salaries.
In simple jobs, the salary is not really attractive.
Consider what the job entails. It will help you figure out where you belong.
Some jobs require you to hone your skills, knowledge, and experience.
I know that.
If you are a person with dreams and ambitions, it will not be difficult for you.
But if you want to earn extra money to cover your life, a simple job that doesn’t require too much will be right for you.
Sometimes, you will find jobs you like, but your skills and experience are not enough to apply for.
Don’t hate your life.
Give yourself time to practice and learn more, then return to it.
Do not give up!
Either way, that’s what you need to develop yourself to fit your ideal career path.
Improve the necessary skills
It is a fact that work from home jobs require specific skills different from working at a company, a coffee shop, or something else.
And you need to adapt to that.
Lifeee will suggest some skills you need to prepare well before looking for and applying for a work from home job.
To become a global citizen and participate in the online job market, you need to have a minimum level of English.
Not only to communicate, but you need to use English to write and present your plans to your superiors.
But what if you are not good at English?
Give yourself some time to practice and improve before you want to find an excellent job for yourself.

Soft skills characterize how a person interacts in his or her relationships with others, including personal attributes, personality traits, and communication abilities.
People often underestimate this, but it’s essential to whether or not you can successfully apply for the work from home jobs you want.
Employers often require candidates to have a particular soft skill capital to interact and work in groups with coworkers.
Lifeee will suggest to you some essential soft skills that employers often appreciate so you have a plan to improve them.
- Critical thinking
- Positive attitude
- Work ethic
- Time management
- Conflict resolution
That is all.
Office information technology skill
This is another skill you don’t want yourself to forget.
Because those skills help you have more opportunities for career advancement.
In today’s information age, when you do tasks such as writing letters, documents, calculating wages, inventorying assets, etc., all need the help of computers.
Then, mastering related office computer skills and software such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word or Google Scholar, Google Slides, Google Docs, Google Mail… helps you easily control these tasks.
In addition, office computer skills help you present your plans or strategies to your superiors more clearly and coherently.
And believe me, employers will notice you more than the rest.
So, don’t take them lightly but practice every day.
Skills in using electronic devices
Do you find smartphones, tablets, or laptops appearing in your life with more frequency?
The world is changing and modernizing rapidly.
And you don’t want to be an old-fashioned person, do you?
That’s why learning how to use, and coordinate electronic devices more proficiently are essential.
They are the things that help you connect with coworkers online, share your ideas, and present your plans to your superiors when you work from home.
I know you’re used to smartphones or laptops, so I won’t say much here.
But suppose you’re still not used to using them to maximize your productivity.
In that case, it’s time to take a closer look at how to use the electronics around you more proficiently.
Set up your workspace with helpful tips
Setting up a workspace is something you should consider when you work from home.
An efficient and focused workspace will help you improve your productivity.
And to help you work better, I have some tips for you.
Pretend you’re at the office
This is the first thing that you should put yourself in.
Firstly, imagine you are working at the company’s office.
This will help you figure out what you need for an entire workday.
Then make a list of things supporting you while you work from home.
Ultimately, you will set them up into a suitable combination you typically find at your workplace.
If you have never worked in an office, don’t worry, everything is effortless.
Create a workspace in your own style.
That is fine to go on.
Create your dedicated workspace
A space dedicated only to working will help you stay focused and separate from the outside world.
It keeps you from being disturbed by things from your surroundings like other people, your pet, or noise…
A dedicated workspace will give you many more opportunities to develop your career.
It is so important that even if you have an ideal job, but your workspace is always in a bad state, you will not achieve success.
So, setting up a dedicated workspace is something you should spend a lot of time designing to suit when you work from home.
Once you have a professional workspace, I believe your career path is more open than ever.
Set rules with the people around you
When you work, people have to understand that.
They need to respect your workspace and time.
They know you’re focused on doing a good job, so they shouldn’t bother you.
Set rules with your husband, wife, children, or anyone close to you in your house.
And those rules should be maintained throughout.
That’s the minimum requirement for you to be more productive when you from home.

Keep your workspace private
What does this mean?
This means you should keep your documents, plans, or assessments inaccessible to anyone when you work from home.
Maybe you want to keep it in desk drawers and lock them.
Because when someone else messes up everything you have organized, your work will also become disorganized.
It will take a long time to reorganize and track the last task you completed to continue building it.
The thing to remember is that no one can touch your work documents.
Then you will be fine.
Evaluate your workspace after the first day
After you’ve organized your dedicated workspace, it’s time to work.
When you work, notice the details you’re unsatisfied with and note them down.
The arrangement of objects may not be reasonable, or the light may not be in the right direction.
Sometimes you will need to add additional items to help you work from home better.
List those things on your first day working in your designed workspace.
Then we will change and adjust them until you are satisfied.
Finally, you’ve got the perfect workspace to start your ideal career path.
Step #3: Prepare Support Devices When You Work from Home
Now it’s time to list what tools, gadgets, and devices you think will help you do your job well.
No need to be too fussy and pompous here.
Just simple but effective.
They will save you money and accompany you throughout your work.
I’ll review the tools you need for a productive work-from-home session.
You should pay attention to this first when you want to work from home.
Because they are your “fishing rod.”
They will help you work and make money, so choose a good enough laptop for long-term use.
If you already have a PC, that’s fine too.
The important thing is that you must maintain them regularly.
Cherish them, and they will bring you success.

This is also an optional device you may need while working from home.
Usually, the camera on a laptop, smartphone, or tablet is enough for you to communicate with coworkers or superiors.
But if you’re using a PC, or the front-facing camera on your laptop isn’t good enough, you’ll probably need a webcam.
A webcam will help you connect and work better with your team when needed.
They also help keep your presentations to business partners of the highest quality.
Consider getting yourself a webcam if you think it will make your job easier.
A quality headset will contribute to your online meeting like a webcam.
But there is no need to be too fussy and expensive here.
You just need a headset that can clearly hear your partner when you work from home.
And a mic can capture what you say clearly.
This is necessary if the work you want mostly involves communication, such as customer care or streamer.
If everything is already there, you can skip this step.
Another important thing has to do with sound.
Sometimes you will need a speaker to hear better and higher quality sound.
But they are only optional devices.
If you already have headphones, I think speakers won’t be necessary.
However, if you think you need them, go ahead and get yourself one.
Maybe you will need them in the future.
Make sure you work in a well-lit environment.
A well-lit environment will protect your eyes from the light from electronic devices.
If your workspace is near a window, that’s great.
If not, get a desk lamp to give you enough light to work and avoid nearsightedness.
A well-lit environment also helps you retain energy to work longer.
When you have excellent and adequate lighting, you will feel like everything you do is easy, and your work will have a bright future.

Finally, you don’t want to work in a hot environment where you’re constantly sweating.
A hot head will not be able to do anything thoughtfully and carefully.
So you need to cool down your work environment.
Usually, this problem will be solved automatically, since your house will be equipped with them.
If your workspace is near a window where you can get wind and ventilation, that’s great.
Otherwise, equip a simple fan or an air conditioner for your home workspace so you can do your work comfortably.
Desk and chair
I agree that when you work from home, you do it anywhere in your house.
But having a desk and chair is still better, especially the ergonomic ones.
It helps you work for a long time without fatigue or deformities when sitting in the wrong posture.
And you will always have the energy to be much more productive.
What you do from home is important, but it’s just as essential to keep yourself healthy to work hard and long.
Always pay attention to your health.

Prepare a complete application before the job interview because some employers may ask you a lot.
So what kind of documents do you need?
Some of the types of records you will need are:
- Curriculum Vitae / Resume
- Cover letter
- Introducing letter
- Business cards
A curriculum vitae and cover letter are must-haves.
Introducing letters you may not have, but you will be much more appreciated when you have them.
Now is the time to find the right job for you.
So where will you find them?
I have some suggestions for you.
Local and government job sites
The first place you might think of are local and government jobs where you live.
It’s the easiest place to find a job for you.
Take a tour around your city, or search local websites for jobs that you feel are a good fit.
However, it may be difficult for those jobs to allow you to work from home.
So we’ll go on
Social networking sites for jobs
Right! Some social networks are not meant for chatting.
They are intended for employers who are looking for candidates for their jobs.
And you know what social network I’m talking about.
This is where you need to design your personal information page professionally and in detail.
Because it will give you more opportunities to apply for jobs you love.
Try it as soon as you have free time.
Job search websites
Still haven’t found a job you love?
Alright, we’ll continue.
Job search websites are where you will most likely find a suitable work-from-home job.
That’s where a lot of employers are looking for candidates.
What does it mean?
That means you have more chances of getting a job you love.
The places that you want to find yourself there right after reading this article are:
That is it.
Freelance job sites
Last but not least, those are websites for freelancers.
If you are freelance, then this might be the right place for you.
You can post your work and earn money instantly.
Or you can also hire others to build your own business model.
I will suggest you some websites.
That’s all you need to find a job that matches your interests.
Hope you find a good job.
Now we will move to the next step.
Make a reviews list
After you’ve picked out the potential work from home jobs you’d like to apply for, it’s time to evaluate them.
So what are we going to evaluate?
It’s effortless to choose the job criteria that directly affect you.
I will suggest you some.
- Job skills required
- Work experience
- Working time
- Work style (formal/informal)
- Type of work (full-time/part-time)
You should evaluate those things to see if they suit your preferences.
Once you’ve eliminated the jobs you don’t like, the remaining jobs are potential jobs.
Those will be the jobs that you want to develop your career with.
Now we will move to the next step.
Step #5: Apply and Start Working
After going through the previous steps, you now have a list of potential jobs.
The problem is that you still don’t know if they are suitable to work or not.
So we will try them one by one.
And to help you find a job that matches your preferences, we’ll go through the entire job application process.
This is the first step but also the most difficult.
All success and failure start from here.
So you need to prepare and practice it well before entering an interview.
Of course, I have strategies for you.
Let’s check it out.
Research details about the company, organization
Reviewing and finding out information about the company or organization you are about to apply to is the first thing you should do.
It gives you an overview of what you’re looking to work on.
It also helps you prepare for the questions they may ask you or skills you may want to include in your answers.
Some information that you want to find out and collect are:
- Company’s history, mission, and vision
- Company’s business operations
- Company’s leadership, executive officers
- Recent news, latest achievements, and future goals
- Type of company, values, and culture
- Employee benefits the company provides
You can keep looking for the information you want.
Still, it’s basic enough for you to understand where you will contribute and build your career.
Types of job interviews
Next are the types of interviews you will encounter when applying for a job.
Each type will have some specific requirements and different evaluation methods.
Understanding the characteristics of that type of interview will make it easier for you to pass.
- The one-on-one interview is the traditional kind where you meet with a hiring manager or human resources professional to answer questions.
- The panel interview is when several people from different perspectives within an organization, like human resources, your potential manager, and sometimes employees on the team, will ask you questions.
- The distance interview is one where employees may ask to meet on the phone or over video before coming in for a more formal interview.
- The behavioral interview can be more in-depth than traditional interviews when a hiring manager might ask you to describe specific situations in your previous role, including your actions and the results.
- The group interview is where you’re interviewed with other people for the same or similar roles to find the best one.
- The working interview is where you physically perform the job duties for the interviewer to evaluate you.
- The informal interview is where you meet with the hiring manager and have an informal discussion.
Prepare your professional documents
Why professional documents?
Because it will help you look more professional to the employer.
It also gives you more control over your own information.
You can use a portfolio folder to help you organize thems easily.
Some items you may need are:
- CV / resume
- Reference sheets
- Business cards / networking cards
- Your elevator pitches
- Introducing letter
You can add more items, but that should be enough for the employer to appreciate you.
The important thing is the quality of those things will get you more points.
Optimize Your Resume to Get More Interviews
Build sample scenarios
What does this mean?
That means you’ll be prepared for what might happen.
But you also know situations that happen more than just one.
That’s why you need to imagine and list what could happen.
The goal is for you to better deal with the unpredictable.
The question is, how?
And you know it too, right?
I always have preparations for you.
Here’s a process you can use to build your own sample scenarios.
- Collect practice, expertise, and extensive questions
- Create your answers, presentation
- Limit the length of your answers
- Practice answering interview questions
- Record yourself answering questions
- Listen to recordings of your answers
- Experiment with different recording options
- Practice your mock interviews
- Take practice seriously like an actual interviews
- Evaluation, learn, and improve your answers
- Update your sample scenarios
Hopefully, you’ll be able to build high-quality sample scenarios for your interview.
You already have the sample situations in hand.
You have also practiced them thoroughly.
But when can they be applied?
There are many different interview stages, which can be distracting.
Understanding the stages of an interview is essential for helping you know what to expect from the interview process.
I will show you all the interview stages to help you prepare and feel confident before entering an interview.
- Introductions & greet
- Making conversation & develop a rapport
- Gathering information about you
- Performing the interview
- Answer each interviewer’s question
- Ask interviewer questions
- Rate and feedback
- Trade business cards
- Thank the interviewer
- Send a thank-you email after an interview
That is all the process of an interview that you will go through.
If you are well prepared, everything will go according to plan.
If not, we’ll come to…
Summarize, evaluate, and learn from the experience
Maybe your first interview won’t go as planned.
Maybe your second interview will be a bit of a problem.
Being human, everyone will make mistakes.
However, you have already surpassed many others by knowing your weaknesses and improving them.
Take a candid look at your mistakes in failed interviews and note them down.
That will be a lesson for you so that the following interview will be as successful as expected.
There are still many interviews waiting for you ahead.
When one door shuts, another opens.
To help you have a successful interview, I’ll give you a few more helpful tips.
It is like mental medicine to keep you confident and prepared for unforeseen problems.
Let’s check it out.
- Always practice your sample scenarios thoroughly before the interview
- Check your documents carefully before leaving home
- Arrive early for the interview
- Be patient, belief in yourself and your plan
- Always maintain a positive attitude
- Be aware of your body language
- Dress professionally
- If you are interviewed online:
- Choose a clean, tidy, and quiet place
- Do not sit against the light and must have good light
- Focus, speak clearly and coherently
- Check your devices before the interview
Finally, wish you have successful interviews and soon get a job as you want.
Know the basic rules of work
You need to know these rules when successfully applying for the job.
Ask and take note of the rules of the company or organization you will be working for.
Does your employer require a nine-to-five schedule, or is there flexibility?
When communicating with coworkers and superiors, you will be asked to use technology tools, Zoom, Slack, or Microsoft Teams?
There are a lot of rules to know before you master the work you love.
These are just the basic things, like conventions between a group of people and a new person to be able to work in sync and communicate quickly.
Learn, adapt, and you will get used to the new environment soon.
Company’s work-from-home policy
Now is the time to consider your company’s work-from-home policies.
Like any other workplace policy, it provides you with what you need to work from home successfully.
A good policy mitigates the disadvantages of working from home while making this option available to as many employees as practical.
However, you should not expect too much because not everyone can be allowed to work from home.
To be able to work from home, you need to get some minimum elements.
A confirmation of the employee’s eligibility
The organization or company you work for will review relevant factors to confirm eligibility.
Those factors could be:
- Full-time vs. part-time employees
- Time to be present and work at the company’s office
- Indicators for evaluating job performance
Depending on some companies, these factors may be more or less.
Once you’re eligible to work from home, you’ll be guided through the process.
Evaluate performance when working from home
When you work from home, your manager will need a way to make sure you get the job done.
For some positions, this will require putting in a certain amount of time and having a digital process to track that time.
For others, it will mean clear benchmarks, goals, or deliverables to be reached within a specific time.
You’ll need to discuss the performance review process with your manager to work from home successfully.
Once you and they agree on those metrics, that’s when you’ll schedule your time to do a great job.
Be present and communicate
Working from home also means you won’t always be able to immediately interact with coworkers or superiors.
That’s when presence and communication are out of sync.
However, that doesn’t mean you can just disappear for a long time and reappear later as if nothing happened.
It also doesn’t mean you’ll appear in pajamas and uncombed hair on camera.
Either way, working from home is still serious business.
You need to be professional and always look professional in every task.
Behave like you’re at the office.
It will help you be appreciated by everyone.
Then you will have more promotion opportunities, and your career path will be much more open.
Support tools when working from home
You still need to be present for meetings, discussions, or presentations about upcoming company projects when you work from home.
So that, determine which technology tools are necessary for you to work at home.
At a minimum, you’ll need some type of collaboration software, video conferencing software, and project management software to communicate well with your team.
Sometimes you won’t be able to install and set up the tools yourself.
And sometimes, there will be unexpected technical problems when you use a specific support tool.
Technical problems can be frustrating for you.
That’s when you need to proactively deal with the situation instead of just submitting a ticket to your company’s support system.
Chat with technical support or ask your team those who can set up and solve your problem.
That will keep everyone happy, and you can get back to work faster and be much more productive.
Technology security standards
Last but not least is strict adherence to security policies for remote employees.
It can be policies about antivirus software, firewalls, encryption, remote access and wiping, and what equipment is allowed.
For example, you must use a virtual private network (VPN), especially when working from public places like coffee shops or public libraries.
Or you are not allowed to appear in public when handling sensitive customer information because of possible eavesdropping or spying.
Anyway, protect your company and organization carefully.
Next is the security of customer information.
It is a professional ethic that you need to know and always keep in mind.
Finally, be professional to have a solid career and a bright future.
Step #6: Adapting to The Work Environment
I know that while you are working, there will be specific difficulties.
It can make you feel uncomfortable, constrained, and stressed.
But that’s the job.
Unlike when you relax or are in school, work needs dedication and professionalism.
So you need to adapt to the new working environment.
They are not too difficult.
If you follow the steps below, you will feel no more pressure.
Create a schedule for work and other activities
Okay, now it’s time to put it all in shape.
You need to know when you work and when you rest.
Don’t be too perfectionist and strict here.
You just need to observe your daily activities and find the time when you are most productive.
Then put it on your schedule and manage it.
There are some valuable tips that you should know.
Find your most productive time
This is the first thing you should consider when you work from home.
Start work when you have the most energy and focus.
It will help you work more and be more productive.
You will also feel you learn more new knowledge and organize your business better.
That is it.
Schedule daily, weekly, and monthly
I mean, you should mix short-term planning and long-term planning.
And a mid-term plan helps tie it all together.
Then, you will know how far you have come in the plan every working day.
Scheduling different periods also helps you keep track of the goals you need to achieve.
Just hit small goals daily, check them weekly, and eventually, you will achieve the big goal you set in your plan.
Maintain and stick to a consistent schedule
Because you need to create a good habit.
A routine will help you save energy and work from home more efficiently.
When you work repetitively at a particular time of day, your body will begin to adapt to that.
Then it will help you improve your learning, plan, or do tasks with alertness.
You will always feel full of energy to handle your business without ever feeling tired.
Schedule a break
After hard work from home, it’s time to rest.
Rest helps you restore energy and clear your mind.
But, how do you rest properly?
Just simple. Take complete rest.
Play with your pet, try some CBD gummies, do your hobby, talk with friends or family, or go outside to relax.
Your goal is to separate yourself from work altogether.
Don’t think about it anymore because you’ll return to it later.
Working from home has its upsides as well as its downsides.
What stops you the most is the blurred boundaries when constantly distracted by your surroundings.
That’s why you need to set boundaries for everything.
This includes whether you rest, eat, relax, exercise, or hang out with friends.
Those are nameless things that affect your performance if you ignore them.
So you need to set a time for them, stick to it, and you will be fine.
Choose a clear start and end time
Last but not least, you have to be decisive with the timing.
What does this mean?
That is, when it’s time for the job, you should not procrastinate or intend to delay.
If you think you’re going to watch an unfinished movie or talk to your friends for five more minutes, that’s when you’ve lost control of yourself.
On the other hand, if it’s time to take a break, but you still tend to be workaholics, then you’re not following the rules you’ve set.
It was an unprofessional act.
Put aside the unfinished entertainment to start a business session or summarize the tasks so you can rest completely.
In other words, be disciplined!
Remember, success only comes when you are disciplined with yourself and appreciate your time.
Communicate with your colleagues
Coworkers will be your new friends after you leave college.
They, like you, are also colorful worlds.
Learning how to communicate effectively and make friends with your coworkers will help you deal with work better and more efficiently.
To do that, I have some suggestions for you.
Keep the phone number for work
Set up a phone number for employment.
It will be a phone number that is always available so people can contact you quickly.
A phone number that doesn’t change over time shows you’re a professional.
That phone number will also represent your personal appearance at work.
So don’t constantly change your work phone number.
Email for work
Email is similar to the phone number when you work from home.
You also need a unified email address so people can contact you when they need you.
However, there are some caveats here.
Your business email shouldn’t contain weird characters or funny names.
It’s also not up to be the email you created as a teenager.
Choose an email address with a professional name.
It will represent you at work.
Communicate clear expectations
Be straightforward in how you communicate your ideas.
That means you must make clear and detailed plans before giving them to your coworkers.
You also have to be clear about your responsibilities when facing problems.
Give them a gentle and sincere comment if it’s from a coworker.
If it’s yours, frankly admit your mistake and learn from it next time.
All these will help you feel more comfortable and build better colleague relationships.
Provide feedback often and quickly
You will get used to receiving quick responses when working in the corporate office.
But it’s completely different when you work from home.
Maybe when you ask for something, there will be a delay for your team members to feedback.
The same is true when you receive a request and will answer when you have free time, but trust can also decrease with waiting time.
However, let responses be as frequent and as quick as possible.
No one likes to wait, but that’s what working from home is.
Always keep the response time to a minimum.
That will help people feel more confident in each other.
Keep the discussion only about work
People sometimes share topics around their personal stories in the business chat room.
That is not advisable and unnecessary.
You should be so.
Keep discussions or conversations related to business matters only.
That will make it easy to go back to find the information whenever you need it.
And it also keeps people from prying and gossiping about your private life.
Build credibility and trust
Last but not least, try to build your personal credibility and trust.
That means being on time when meeting online or completing tasks at a deadline.
In general, you should show your professionalism when you work from home.
Because that’s your career path.
Don’t skip yourself for any small mistakes.
They will ruin your future.
Just build things up slowly and step by step.
You do not need to hurry.
Ultimately, you will taste the sweet fruit you worked hard to cultivate.
How to Win Friends & Influence People
Build and improve relationship quality
If you determine you will be with the company long-term, continue building and improving the quality of your relationships.
It will help you get more support from people.
Moreover, you’ll feel more connected to where you want to belong.
You can do the following things to improve the quality of your relationships.
Socialize with your colleagues
When working from home, you will indeed feel lonely at times.
That’s when you think of your colleagues.
Give them a chance to become your new friend.
Who knows, you will find an exciting friend.
Hang out with your colleagues when you are free or after work.
Those are simple social activities but highly effective in building a new relationship.
When you have friends at work, you will no longer feel lonely.
Meet in real life after facetime
When you meet online, you can see most of your team members.
But people won’t understand each other just by looking at the webcam.
So, meeting your team members in real life is essential to building a quality relationship.
Maybe you and them will talk more and open up when doing social activities together.
Anyway, meeting face to face is better than just talking over a laptop or smartphone, right?
Don’t be too harsh and judgmental towards others
You can be strict with yourself but be gentle with everyone.
Because you probably won’t know what a bad day they had.
Or you don’t know they had an unhappy childhood.
Cuz you know yourself best, you need to be strict with yourself.
As for everyone, especially colleagues, let go of mistakes and give them opportunities to correct them.
What about people who constantly make mistakes and refuse to change for the better?
You simply ignore them because they are not relevant to you.
You don’t have to worry about people who always see their life from a negative perspective.
Life is already too hard for them.
Stay positive and maintain a relaxed state of mind in your life.
I believe you can do it well
Keep your team spirit
When working from home, people may not understand each other as well as they think.
That’s where the conflict comes in.
Your job is not to aggravate the problem but to be the mediator to solve them.
Always keep your team happy and in harmony.
It will help people not to feel too pressured and stressed at work.
Schedule an outing, watch a movie together, chat online with your team after work, meet up for a workout, etc.
Keep the team spirit because it’s like a second family to you.
If you can do that, you will always be trusted and appreciated by people.
And maybe, you will be elected team leader by everyone.
Now it’s time to move on to the next step.
Step #7: Manage and Improve Your Work Performance
To improve work performance, you must manage your activities scientifically and rationally.
They include tips to help you stay active without losing too much energy.
There are also times when you rest and recharge to continue the next working session.
And to help you with that, I have some suggestions.
Let’s check it out.
Maintain regular working time
Stick to the schedule you’ve established most of the time.
When working from home, you must be flexible in your schedule.
But maintaining a regular and specific working time will help your body adapt.
It helps you have enough energy to work for a long time.
If you keep changing your schedule, you will sometimes lose control.
And that will reduce your productivity many times over.
Always plan and take them seriously
You need to plan ahead to have reasonable control over the tasks you are assigned at work.
Having a detailed plan helps you know where you are and whether or not you are on the right track.
After making plans, you also need to take them seriously.
Because only then will you know how well you have done.
Otherwise, you’re just playing around with vague ideas you think you’ve made all right.
It will not be able to help you know how far you have progressed or are just standing still, even going backward.
Prepare coffee for your working session
Coffee is a traditional beverage that brings many health benefits to you.
It keeps you awake and energized so you can handle the tasks of work in a significant way.
And you know what?
Coffee also promotes heart health, helping you reduce heart disease that you don’t want.
Prepare a cup of coffee the night before so you don’t have to spend too much time making it the next day.
And you will see the magic of this drink.

Take a shower before work
This is also a little trick that you should try.
You know, you can’t handle a job well with a hot head.
Taking a shower helps you lower your body temperature and relaxes.
That helps you to start your day with more comfort, and you will be able to handle your work problems more calmly.
Choose the proper water temperature, not too cold and not too hot.
After your shower, you’ll find yourself more awake than ever.
Then you will have an excellent working day.
If your work involves social interaction, that’s fine.
But if your job isn’t relevant, using social media can be distracting.
You shouldn’t think I’ll just check my social media for five minutes, and then I’ll get to work.
That is undisciplined.
It disrupts your thinking and concentration at work.
Then you will be unable to progress and will not be as productive as you want.
Let’s do that activity when you take a break.
Look for training and learning opportunities
You should always seek opportunities to train, learn and improve your skills.
It could be soft skills, soft business skills, programming, software, and others.
Because it gives you more experience in handling new problems and tasks.
Through learning and training, you will also expand your knowledge base.
As a result, you will be considered and promoted to higher positions with more responsibility in the company.
That’s a good thing for your career path.
Combined with music
Here’s another tip to help you improve your work productivity.
Music, when used correctly, will make you feel good when handling work.
But not all music is the same.
You should not use powerful songs with lyrics while working.
It distracts you when your head just recites the lyrics.
Use instrumental music instead with a gentle and harmonious tempo.
It will help you forget fatigue and work in a relaxed mental state.
Use a timer
Timers help you focus as much as possible when you work from home.
It makes you feel pressured with time and try to get the job done as quickly as possible.
But using a timer also requires some finesse.
Have you ever heard of the Promodoro method?
It is effortless.
Just follow the steps below to do the Pomodoro Method.
- Step 1: Choose the job or task you will do.
- Step 2: Set the time, usually 25 minutes.
- Step 3: Work until 25 minutes are up.
- Step 4: Take a 5-minute break.
- Step 5: After the fourth break, take a more extended break with 10 minutes (or 15 – 30 minutes depending on your energy).
That is it.
With this approach, you’ll always have enough energy to do your work efficiently and recharge quickly for the next working session.
Snack at break time
You might be asking, why can’t I eat while working from home?
No, you shouldn’t.
It will be distracting and limit the task you can do.
While typing, you can’t chew your food and think about what you will do next.
Leave it for break time.
Then you can fully enjoy them.
And snacking on breaks also helps you recharge your energy quickly before continuing on to tasks.
Get a complete rest when you’re sick
Sickness is something no one wants.
But working while you’re sick means you don’t love yourself.
Give your body time to rest and recover.
That will help you quickly regain your health.
Then you can go back to work wholeheartedly.
But it is essential to always pay attention to your health.
It is better to avoid illnesses than to treat them, right?
End your workday with routines
Finally, relax after you’ve done your work from home job.
That’s when you make time for your habits.
It could be exercising, checking social media, hanging out with friends, picking up your kids, taking care of the family, etc.
It helps you clear your mind and connect to real life.
And those times are also included in the schedule you made in the previous steps.
When you end your workday with these habits, you’ll feel in control of your life and career.
It’s a good point to continue building your future as successful as you want.
Hopefully, the above valuable tips will help you manage and improve better your work performance.
Step #8: Develop Your Own Career Path
After a successful period of working from home, there will come a time when you want to develop your own career.
But that is not easy.
You will have to face many problems, obstacles, and difficulties you must solve independently.
There will be times when you miss and want to go back to the days working for the company or organization you were there.
So, I have some advice to make it easier for you to grow and build your career path.
Thanks to those who have helped you
Before you even think about going on your career path, remember the people who have stood by you.
They are likable coworkers, caring superiors, or perhaps strict bosses.
Those people give you valuable lessons you will never learn when you go your own way.
Thank them sincerely, write them a letter and tell them how grateful you are.
You should cherish those relationships because maybe you will need them again later.
It is the first action a professional will take when thinking of building their own career.
Willing to learn new things
When you go your own way, there will be many new things you have never met.
That happens often.
Then it’s no longer simply working from home.
Your problem is that you should not be conservative and hold on to old views that no longer make sense.
Be ready to embrace new things and learn from them.
Then you will no longer be stuck in the past but are preparing for the future.
Some helpful tips will make it easier for you to learn new things openly.
- Ready to adapt
- Develop and build new skills
- Look for learning opportunities
- Take the process slowly
- Accept your mistakes
- Find topics you want to master
That is it.
Become an exemplary leader
When you work from home, you don’t have to be a role model for others to set an example.
You just have to do your job well.
That problem is for your superiors, the people who run the company, or your boss.
But that is no longer the case when you develop your career path.
You must set an example for yourself first.
Always do what you need to, handle tasks independently, or plan out details and do them yourself.
Only then will you consider hiring people to work and ask them to follow the framework you have set.
I know it’s hard work.
But it’s fun and exciting, isn’t it?
You will constantly be challenged and learn new knowledge and experiences, thereby becoming a more perfect person that people will put their trust in.
Defines a clear vision and goal
As you develop your own career, this is something that should not be overlooked.
This is essential whether you work from home or at the office.
It helps you understand your core values and keeps you on track.
Before you do anything, sit down and define your vision and goals.
Write down on paper, gather information from multiple sources, then plan it out in detail.
When you build your career, always keep a close eye on your goals.
Then, evaluate your successes to see if you have achieved the vision you initially set out.
If it hasn’t already, keep moving forward step by step.
If everything is fine, continue to prepare for what lies ahead.
Finally, you will achieve a certain amount of success and goals when you go your own way.
Next, you should self-assess the entire process you previously designed to achieve your goals.
When you work from home, the assessment will be done by your supervisor or boss.
Now it is no more.
You are already your own boss.
So a fair self-assessment is something you should do regularly.
Things you should periodically evaluate include:
- Your strengths
- Potential improvements
- Your values
- Your goals
- Personal achievements
Write down what you have done in the past and evaluate them.
During the self-assessment, you also need:
- Use metrics
- Be specific
Those are enough for you to have a successful self-assessment.
Learn to manage things logical
Never fix mistakes or deal with problems or tasks in a patchwork way.
It will only mess things up.
Then there comes a time when you will lose control of everything entirely.
Learn how to design systems once and be reused again and again.
It saves you time, and doesn’t have to overthink when new problems arise.
Manage your life first, then your career sensibly.
Once you have robust support systems that you can confidently use repeatedly, you can manage the people you hire.
Finally, not only can you work from home, but you can work anywhere in the world without fear of obstacles waiting for you.
Never give up when you fail
This is simple, but many people will not easily do it.
Learning how to get up after you’ve failed or fallen is essential.
Because your own career path can never be smooth and straight to the finish line.
There are challenges and failures, then you can learn from them and improve yourself with experiences.
These will help you become stronger and more resilient to the oncoming storms.
If someone is not challenged, they will be swept away by the storms of life.
You don’t want that, do you?
So get up and move on.
Always keep a positive attitude
This is another tricky thing.
When the sky falls, everyone will panic and run away from the failures.
You are the only one left.
Because you are a person who always keeps a positive attitude towards everything.
All bad things will pass.
You must have the strength to steer the boat of your life and bravely face challenges.
Always keep a positive attitude to surprise everyone, including your enemies.
Finally, you will achieve achievements that no one can imagine.
That will be the medal given to a survivor like you.
Towards a brighter and better future
Lastly, you should look forward to a brighter and better future.
After the storm, the sun will shine again.
After challenges and failures, some people will seek revenge.
But there will also be those who choose to do good things.
Be a good person, always help people, improve living space and maintain an excellent social culture.
It is not just for you but for your children, grandchildren, and future generations to live better lives.
Whether the future turns out to be good or not, it will all depend on brave people like you.
I believe you will take that responsibility and do well.
Those are all the steps you need to start work from home jobs.
You can use it to find a part-time or full-time job.
It’s entirely up to you.
Now it’s your turn.
Let me know what difficulties you are facing.
Or you may have found yourself a good job.
Don’t be afraid to share your stories.
Anyway, let me know your thoughts and feelings by commenting below.
I would be happy if I could help you live a better life.
And see you soon in future posts.
